As a service and ministry to people, icon cards of some of our parish's numerous wonderful icons have been prepared and are available for anyone who wishes to be blessed by having them. The beautiful icon cards are approximately 4" x 6" and are printed on extra heavy glossy card stock. They are available at St. Innocent Church, or can be mailed, upon request. While we do not charge for these icons, a donation for them and for shipping is greatly appreciated! They are being portrayed here as a further ministry to people, so they can see what is available, or who might wish to print them out for their own use, or to e-mail them to others.
On the back of each icon there is a brief "Life" of the saint, and a few have the Troparion hymn to the saint. Nine of the cards depict the African saints whose icons are in our temple, eight on the walls and one panel icon.
Here are the front and back of each icon. (click on the images to enlarge.)
ST. INNOCENT OF IRKUTSK
This icon card is of our parish's patron saint's icon located on our iconostsis. It is one of four icons on our iconostasis that were painted/written in Russia and donated to the parish in 1984, when the iconostsis was replaced after a fire in 1981 had demolished most of the temple. This icon card was prepared in January 2017, in commemoration of the parish's 50th Jubilee Anniversary in 2017.
ST. MOSES THE BLACK
St. Moses the Black (or Ethiopian) is the patron saint of the Brotherhood of St. Moses the Black, which is a national organization, started in 1993, and whose first local chapter (of Metro-Detroit) was established at St. Innocent in January of 2007. St. Innocent Church continues to be the home-base of the Detroit Chapter. St. Moses and his life continues to inspire countless people. St. Innocent Church is blessed to have not only a magnificent full length wall icon in the vestry/sacristy (left), but also a panel icon on a nave window ledge (right).
